Biography
Jerzy Nowosielski, born in Cracow in 1923, is one of the most distinguished figures in Polish contemporary culture. The all-encompassing breadth of his lifelong pursuit includes painting, theoretical writing, art education and devotion to promoting and supporting Polish culture - the fields in which he has been very successful. His works, combining the tradition of orthodox icon painting and western avant-garde, have been presented at over 100 solo exhibitions and over 250 group ones. The works of Jerzy Nowosielski are in major Polish museums as well as numerous private collections. Artist died in Cracow on January 21, 2011.
